Obviously a lot of newer "indy" titles on the list but hey, might as well give new talent a shot and besides, everything was 35% off anyway. Now I just have to sit down and READ all these suckers...

The highlight of the day of course was meeting my hero, Goddess of Words Gail Simone. She proved to be an absolutely wonderful woman, very kind and great with the fans. She was able to tolerate me buzzing around her table every so often with new questions, and I was able to snag a few photos of us together (which I will put up the moment I figure out how to link my comp and camera together).

The one thing I was saddened to miss was the costume women's roller derby down in Whyte Ave, but I missed a bus connection and wasn't able to get to the show in time. Which is a shame because roller derby = pro wrestling on wheels, and throw some really good superheroine costumes into the mix you've got the pinnacle of male fantasy right there. ;) Oh well, there's always next year.

So yes, right now I am somewhere between Win And Awesome. =D

This year was actually the first time I went to free comic day. Got the Prelude to Darkest Night and Cyberforce vs Hunter/Killers, should have gotten more but nothing really interested me......and did not want to seem greedy:)

Cool that you got to meet Gail Simone, I am loving Wonder Woman right now. All my store had was a guy that drew bad drawings of people :D

Yeah, learned a few interesting things from her, like that Genocide was NOT designed in the CoV costume generator and was in fact put together by Aaron Lopresti. Plus, Gail said that while nothing's finalized, she might be doing a project for City of Heroes, of which she's a recovering addict from. Anticipation!

Up on the mountain, as the blizzards closed in, there was a red glow in the snow. It was there all winter, and when the spring gales blew, the rubies glittered in the sunshine.

No one remembers the singer. The song remains.
-The Last Hero

That sounds cool (about a CoH project), I just do not want anything to interfere with the books she she is currently on. Birds of prey did went down a bit in quality when she left.

Yeah. I felt sorry for Tony Bedard for having to deal with Birds fans still smarting from Gail's leaving, especially since he was stuck writing about the Canary/Arrow wedding AND the death of Knockout in his first issue. I was worried he was gonna get lynched.

But yeah, I think Gail knows to pace herself and not take on too many titles at once :work:
